Okay, so we're definitely pregnant! We only got to the hospital one hour early (I was being very restrained) and the cafe in the antenatal clinic didn't sell decaffinated tea, milk, or anything I fancied so spent the time getting more and more nervous about having to tell everyone it was a false alarm. In the scanning room the woman was lovely - but had a good look around 'to check everything' before my husband could see the baby & even then the computer screen was turned away from me so I had to ask "is there anything there?!"
Well, there was, so I started crying with relief. The woman turned the screen towards me but I was feeling slightly hysterical by then so the picture kept jumping as I laughed. I managed to calm down and there he was. (Too early to know the sex & we don't want to find out anyway - but can't bear to talk about an 'it') Then Dom took my hand and started shaking which set me off again. (I knew I shouldn't have bothered with mascara.)
Then Dom pipes up "is that the bladder behind the head?" at which the woman panics - not having noticed any major deformities herself - until she realises he meant mine! so then she has hysterics - a great big laugh - for several minutes, after which she helpfully moves the wand to show him my bladder. (Nice.) Then she does a little tour and says "and there you can see the vagina" to which I said "lovely, let's all look at that" which sets her off again and then me too so it's shaking all over the place again!
Anyway, we all calmed down after a while & she managed to print off some unshaky pictures which I'll see if I can post here. (Or get Dom to later.)
We've emailed them around to family & on facebook & everyone agrees he looks very comfy and laid back. There are also opinions that he's either waiting for someone to give him a beer or is playing an imaginary french horn. (Trust me - he's not getting his hands on either for the next few decades...)(... at least.)
